Anti Social Behaviour Co-ordinator

On the 28th February the Hyndburn Community Safety Partnership welcomed Susan Brooks to the team. Susan has taken the role of Anti-Social Behaviour co-ordinator following the departure of Vicky Whitfield. With over 14 years experience of working in a local government environment with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, she has worked in areas of public and private sector housing. More recently Susan has specialised in tenancy enforcement, anti-social behaviour, community safety and community development, across many areas of Lancashire including - Blackburn, Burnley, Rossendale and Preston.

Susan is also a former Community Safety Officer with Rossendale Borough Council and Tenancy Enforcement Co-ordinator with Twin Valley Homes. She has extensive experience of working with partner organisations to address common objectives in complex environments, implementing multi-agency strategies and action plans, and of facilitating community development, consultation and capacity building processes.

With experience of utilising alternative methods in tackling breaches of tenancy agreements and associated anti-social behaviour issues Susan takes a holistic approach to solving problems. These include multi-agency solutions and action plans, mediation, acceptable behaviour contracts, undertakings and injunctions, anti-social behaviour orders and community based interventions and preventative measures, all designed to work independently or alongside each other to achieve a long lasting and fair solution.

She has previous experience of gathering evidence, undertaking surveillance, interviewing witnesses, victims and perpetrators, recording detailed case notes and preparing witness statements, affidavits and other court documents and of attending court as a professional witness.

On taking over the role Susan said, “I am looking forward to this challenging role and the opportunity to use my previous experience to good effect. I will be working with different agencies and the local community to make Hyndburn a safer place to live, work and visit.”
