Community Strategy
Hyndburn’s Community Strategy 2003 – 2008 The Hyndburn Community Strategy has been developed to address the issues that matter to local residents and to make Hyndburn ‘a better place to live, work and visit’ over the next five years. Based on the Hyndburn Quality of Life Survey completed by residents in Autumn 2001 the Strategy focuses on six key themes:
Community Safety
Housing and Environment
Health and Social Care
Economy and Employment
Education and Lifelong Learning
Culture and Leisure.
There are also several cross cutting themes including Community Cohesion, Information Communication Technologies, Social Inclusion, Sustainable Development and Transportation. Several time limited task groups have also been set up which include Children and Young People’s task group and the Older People’s task group.
The success of the Strategy relies on local organisations, groups and individuals working together at the district, town, neighbourhood and household level in the collective effort of realising the Vision to make Hyndburn a better place to live, work and visit.
The big idea behind Hyndburn FIRST was that it could provide a focus for tackling the priorities identified in the Hyndburn Community Strategy. An important distinction between this and previous approaches is the inclusion of the Hyndburn Community Network (HyCEN) and Neighbourhood Renewal Community Voice.
Hyndburn FIRST no longer exists.
In October 2005 HyCEN changed names to the Hyndburn Community Network. Click on here to go to the Hyndburn Community Network website
