First Steps Outreach Centre
Whilst the Park Child & Family Centre is Sure Start Hyndburn’s central building and remains the point for the delivery of services and base for Sure Start Hyndburn team members, other similar centres are opening up around the Hyndburn area to make access to Sure Start Hyndburn easier than ever. The first of the Sure Start Hyndburn outreach buildings, ‘First Steps Outreach Centre’ on Princess Street has started to run play and learn sessions on Mondays and family drop in on Thursdays and many more services are on the way, including training opportunities, ante natal groups and advice for living a healthier lifestyle. First Steps also provides facilities for other community groups to use the centre for their own community-focussed activities and events. These centres are designed with the community in mind and we want you to use them and get the best out of them.

More centres will open over the coming months. Work has already begun on what is presently known as the Beeches at Ferngore and the Willows in Barnfield and we are inviting companies to tender for the contract for what is presently known as the Oaks in Scaitcliffe. These centres will be quite similar to the First Steps Outreach Centres but be sure to keep visiting the Park Child & Family Centre to keep up to date with all the latest Sure Start Hyndburn developments.
There are also plans to open an information shop on Whalley Road in the town centre of Accrington where everyone is welcome to drop in and find out more about the work of Sure Start Hyndburn.
