Joy and pain for Rishton

There was mixed news for Rishton this week after professional Kumar Dharmasena informed the club that he would not after all be returning next season. The club had understood that the Sri Lankan would agree to return if he could get his affairs in order back home but it seems he has decided to try and regain his international place. The club will now join local rivals Accrington in the search for a new paid man.
Peter Sleep has been appointed club captain in place of Scott Greaves. The Australian’s appointment will be a relief to Rishton’s supporters who feared that Sleep might call it a day after breaking the club batting record last season. Sleep had initially indicated he would play one final season with his step son Richard Rostron in the team, but he has now decided to carry on playing.
