Hyndburn’s cricketers have enjoyed several successes at the recent League Dinners.

Rishton’s Peter Sleep was awarded a special memento for scoring 1,000 runs as an amateur during the Lancashire League season. The Australian also picked up the LET Batting Tankard for his magnificent unbeaten 151 at Accrington in May.
Tariq Hussain became only the third Accrington player to scoop the LET bowling prize after Alan Worsick (1970) and David Lloyd (1987)for taking 8-44 against Lowerhouse on May 7th. Hussain also took 8-98 against East Lancs.
Former Accrington Secretary Duncan Warburton also picked up a prestigious award when he won the The Harry Saul Trophy for best umpire. Duncan will take over as Lancashire League Secretary February when Lionel Cooke retires.
Great Harwood skipper Russ Whalley did even better, picking up no fewer than four awards at the Ribblesdale League Dinner. Whalley won the Player of the Year Award, the Senior Batting Prize, the award for highest score for hitting 155 and the Senior Sixes Award for hitting an amazing 71 sixes in a season which saw him break the league’s amateur batting record.
Oswaldtwistle Immanuel skipper Gerard Metcalf picked up the Senior Bowling Award for taking 55 wickets at 13.3.
