Accrington on the charge

Accrington followed up last weeks win at Nelson with another on Sunday against current champions Haslingden at Thorneyholme Road. The home side made 180 in spite of professional Tama Canning picking up another duck.

Accrington win

Adam Wilson made a career best 46, skipper Matt Wilson an unbeaten 27 and both Andy Greenwood and Graeme Sneddon made 20 in  a middle order rally. Excellent seam bowling from Canning and Zahir Afzal then saw Haslingden dismissed for 131 to secure Accrington's  first home win since July 18th last year. Afzal picked up 6-68 and  Canning 4-51.

Church had a 21 run win at Rawtenstall. On a difficult track, Ruvin Peiris (45), Mark Aspin (37) and Sam Holt (35) batted well to take Church to 175-9. Nick Westwell (3-58), Andrew Bentley (3-51) and Peiris (3-27) then combined to dismiss the home side for 154.

Rishton were again on the wrong end of a thriller at Todmorden just as they were in last month's Worsley Cup semi final. Needing five to win from 2 balls, Peter Sleep got himself stumped off Gyan Pandey for 64 to give victory to the home side. Sleep and Shaun Hutchinson had put Rishton back in the game after Pandey had reduced them to 108-9 by taking 4 wickets. Kumar Dharmasena and Sleep had earlier taken 4 wickets apiece as Todmorden made 155-9.

But after a good start, Rishton lost 3 wickets for just 1 run as Pandey and Stuart Parker made a mess of Rishton's top order.

Enfield lost comprehensively at Burnley where the home side came out on top by 89 runs. Andy McLeod made 85 in Burnley's 210 with Alviro Petersen and Neil Holmes picking up three wickets each for Enfield. Petersen then hit an excellent 62 but Enfield offered little else as Jon Harvey took 4 wickets to bowl Enfield out for 121.
