Skipper scoops double

Oswaldtwistle Immanuel skipper Gerard Metcalf scooped both the batting and bowling awards at the club’s Annual Presentation Night. The veteran former Church star hit 373 runs at 21.9 from the middle order and his off spin accounted for 55 wickets at 13.3.

His son Andrew also took 29 wickets at 26.6. Gerard’s other son Daniel was also named Under 13s Player of the Year to make it a family double. Left arm seamer Vernon Woods took the 2nd XI Bowling Prize with Phil Mayers taking the Batting Prize.

It was a busy night for Oliver Clare, who picked up four awards – Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, 3rd XI Batting Prize and the Catching Prize. Steve Smithson won the 3rd XI Bowling Prize. Mark Roberts picked up the Sportsmanship Award, Mark Groom was named Most Improved Player and Edward Walmsley won the Chairman’s Award for all his hard work behind the scenes.

In the Juniors, Lewis Wilkin won the Special Achievement Award. Mark Burton was named Under 15 Player of the Year with Lewis Ledger picking up the Under 11 award. Ben Birch was named Most Improved Player and Oliver Jones won the Young Sportsman prize.
