Courses on coaching

Two Nationally recognised courses are coming to the area over the next few months, in a drive to raise the standards of coaching across Hyndburn.

The British Red Cross will be delivering the Emergency First Aid for Sport course on Saturday 22nd October at Accrington Town Hall 9am-5pm, with a cost of £50 per delegate.  The qualification is valid for 3 years and is essential as each sports club or coaching session should have qualified first aiders present at all times.

The second course is delivered by Sports Coach UK and is the Good Practice and Child Protection Course.  The cost of this workshop is £25 and this takes place on Tuesday 8th November at Accrington Town Hall from 6:30pm-9:30pm.  Any coach, volunteer or team manager should attend this course if they are working with children.

The content of the course will examine how to protect yourself, as well as the young people that you coach and offer advice on good practice when working with children.

Both of these courses contribute to being recognised as achieving the Minimum Operating Standards for coaches, alongside the Equity in Your Coaching and How to Coach Disabled People in Sport workshops.

Places on both of the above courses are for people aged 16 or over  and are strictly limited.  To book please contact Louise Banks at  Lancashire Sport on 01995 642340.
