Old snapshots needed

Hyndburn Council are appealing for old snapshots of parks in the borough, in a bid to get more funding for maintenance and repairs.

Cllr Brian Walmsley, Portfolio Holder for Parks and Open Spaces said:  “Our officers are always looking to access external funds from a wide
selection of sources including, among others,  land tax credits,  the heritage lottery,  the Big lottery fund and the Arts Council.

“External funders like to see evidence of the research that has gone into a project proposal, and any old pictures of our parks in their heyday will certainly help with any bids we make.  At the moment we are only exploring ideas, and we will need to consult fully with people in the community before any bid is submitted, but  having copies of pictures in advance will certainly speed up the process.”

Can you help?  If you have any old photos of any of the boroughs 11 parks: Rhyddings, Oak Hill, Mercer, Cut Wood, Haworth, Lowerfold,
Memorial, Bullough,Gatty, Milnshaw, and Peel, which you would be willing to let the Council have a copy of, please contact Shirley Parkinson, Green Spaces Manager  01254 356242.  All photos will be copied and returned to you promptly.
