White Ash Community Centre gets a facelift

White Ash

White Ash Community Centre in Oswaldtwistle has had a revamp recently in order to comply with the new disability regulations.  As with any revamp, the new bits leave the old bits looking the worse for wear.

This prompted Margo Barnes, a member of the centre,  to get in touch with Oswaldtwistle Area Council to check about the availability of grants to replace the chairs in the centre.

Approving the grant at the recent Oswaldtwistle Area Council meeting, Councillor Peter Britcliffe, Chair of the Area Council, said: "We are delighted to be able to help the residents of White Ash Community Centre to buy some new chairs.

"Bringing comfort and cheer to Oswaldtwistle’s elderly residents is something that we are more than happy to happy to help with.  This is just one of the ways that Area Councils are determined to make a difference.”

Margo Barnes, on behalf of the residents, said: "The centre is looking nice now and we have some lovely new chairs which are very
comfortable.  I didn’t realise the Area Council could help us in this way until I asked.

"Now I’m really glad that I did.  Things are looking much brighter around here now and we are grateful to the Area Council for getting us the money to buy the chairs, which is like the icing on the cake.”
