Welcome to the Hyndburn Life local history section!

If you’ve ever wanted to know what life was like in this area in years gone by, you’ve certainly come to the right place.  Hyndburn is a place packed full of history and heritage, and each of the towns has its own stories to tell.  We’ve tried to collect some of those stories together for you here, along with photographs of old Hyndburn.

We’re sure we can’t have covered everything here, though, and we’d like your contributions to this area of the site.  If you have a story to tell about how Hyndburn used to be, we’d love to hear from you.  So much has changed over the years, and we think it’s important to keep records and accounts of peoples' memories – so if you’ve a story to tell please get in touch!

To the right of the screen you'll see links to a number of different articles about various aspects of Hyndburn's history.  Why not take a leaf through some of them you may learn something!  As time goes on we hope to add to these articles; with your help let's make this a really interesting and useful resource!

You can submit your story or memories by email to info@hyndburnlife.co.uk.  It could be memories of working in the local mills or factories, an old school tale or an account of what life in this area was like during the War.  Whatever your memories, we'd love to hear them.
