Reds double swoop

ACCRINGTON Stanley have made a double swoop as they bid to boost their Conference play-off push. The Reds have snapped up striker David Brown from Hereford, who scored 17 goals last season and has eight in this campaign.

The former Manchester United trainee has played for Hull City, Torquay, Chester and Telford and signed for the Bulls in June 2003.

The 27-year-old has signed until the end of the season with a view to a further year.

"He gives us another option," said boss John Coleman. "We have been thin on the ground up front and he is a quality player."

And they have completed the signing of Welsh winger Gary Roberts, who has now got international clearance.

"He will put pressure on the wingers," said the boss.

Loan signing Matt O'Neill, from Burnley, scored his first goal for the club against Northwich in the Conference Cup on Tuesday night.
