ACCRINGTON Stanley face one of their biggest tests of the season when the make the trip to fortress Crawley Town on Saturday. The league newcomers have won 12 of their 18 league games at home and have one of the best home records in the Nationwide Conference. Town, in 11th spot, have dropped out of the play-off picture and need all three points to keep their slight hopes alive while the fifth placed Reds also need a win as they enter the final five league games of the season. The battle for the play-off places looks to go to the wire with at least nine teams fighting for for four places. "It is another huge game," said captain Peter Cavanagh who will miss the clash with an ankle injury. "I watched them on Sky recently and it looks like a good stadium with a nice wide pitch which should suit our style of play. It will be hard but we know we want a result there." As well as Cavanagh, Ged Brannan is out with a calf injury but striker Lee McEvilly makes a return from a three match ban. "That is a boost for us," said manager John Coleman. "It gives us another option up front." Stanley are unbeaten in four games but have drawn their last two matches against teams lower in the league - and that has meant the Reds are nervously looking over their shoulder. "We have got to go on and win some more now. It is as simple as that," said the Reds boss. "It is a huge period in the club's history and we have got to go out and give it our best shot. We can't govern what other teams will do - only ourselves - and it is all about three points now." And he knows his side need to tighten up from corners - they have conceded three goals from corners in two matches. "It is a concern. The thing is we can put 500 corners in in training and we never score. It is just in games that we got to sleep. "And we have got to address it as, whatever happens, teams will force corners in games and if we can't defend them, then there will be trouble." |
