ACCRINGTON Stanley are on their travels tomorrow as they look to get back to winning ways in the league.

The make the trip to mid-table Canvey Island, double conquerors of  promotion contenders Grays over Christmas, after two draws with Halifax.

But they have still managed to retain their position at the top of  the Conference table as nearest rivals Exeter and Grays keep slipping up and the Reds have now opened up a three point gap.

And, for the last four seasons, the team which is top at New Year has gone on to clinch the title but captain Peter Cavanagh, who scored a late penalty against Halifax to rescue a point on Monday, is wary of this.

"Records are always there to be broken as we did against Grays when we ended their unbeaten record. It doesn't really matter what has happened in the past as there is always a year when it won't happen.

"We have just got to keep going. Canvey have seen off a few teams at home this season and they will be on a high after their two wins over Grays. But we know if we play to our capabalities, then we should come away with a victory."

Cavanagh is hoping to get a starting place tomorrow although Coleman has a fit squad to choose from and has stuck with the same starting XI for the last three games.

And he is looking to bring in a midfielder in the transfer window but says nothing will happen until next week. The manager is also still thrashing out deals with out of contract  players Leam Richardson, Michael Welch, Anthony Barry, Danny Ventre and loan player Phil Edwards.

"I am confident it will all be sorted out soon," said the manager. "And I am looking at a League One player who is out of contract next
week. A couple of clubs are after him but I have thrown my cap into the ring."

Meanwhile Coleman was celebrating after picking up the Manager of  the Month award for December with Crawley Town boss John Hollins. However the manager was playing the prize down.

"It is always nice but it shouldn't be Manager of the Month it should be Team of the Month. I would also rather I won it in March or April as hopefully that will mean we have won the league!"

Meanwhile, Stanley's table topping clash at Exeter, which was scheduled for January 28, has been moved back to Monday, January 30 and will be  live on Sky Sports.
