We will bounce back: Coleman ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman is confident his side will bounce back after their controversial 2-2 draw with fellow title chasers Hereford last Saturday. The Reds are still 13 points clear of their nearest challengers but were disappointed to end their 10 game winning streak with an injury-time goal for the Bulls which meant the spoils were shared and Stanley were denied joining Hereford and Dagenham with the best Conference run of 11 successive wins. But Coleman is sure his side will get back into winning ways on Saturday against play-off challengers Stevenage, who can do the double over the Reds. It has been an up and down season for Graham Westley's team who have never won at the Interlink but need three points to continue their play-off charge. And it could be a battle of the wingers with Stanley's highly-rated wideman Gary Roberts, who turns 22 on Saturday, against Boro's sought after winger George Boyd. "It should be a good game," said Coleman. "We were all disappointed after Hereford and the lads have had a couple of days off and needed picking up but we are fully focused on Stevenage. "They will take heart from the fact we are not facing them to break the record. But I always believe we will score goals and we have a good home record." Danny Ventre, sent off against Hereford, is suspended while Stanley welcome Leam Richardson back following a one match ban. And Andy Tretton and Peter Cavanagh are doubts with injuries. But right back Phil Edwards is confident Stanley can extend their 19-game unbeaten run: "I have never been on the losing side with Accrington and don't intend to be now." And David Brown, who scored at Edgar Street, is sure his team-mates can see off Boro. He said: "I don't think there is a problem motivating the lads anyway because we're all desperate to win the league. "I think people have seen that in our performances for the majority of the season. "We've gone so far in front, we don't want to throw it away now. "We'll be going into the Stevenage game at home very confident and looking to win that one as well. We just want to win every game from now to the end of the season, even if it's mathematically impossible for anyone to get near us, we still want to win our games." Stanley face basement club Southport at Haig Avenue on Tuesday night in the league. |
