Things are on the up

Things are definitely looking up here at Accrington Stanley! Saturday’s victory over Scarborough made it three wins out of three for the Reds, and what’s more the performance on the pitch was superb!  The wins have brought about a new sense of confidence which is essential as we carry on through a very busy month and with some big games ahead of us.

On Tuesday we welcome Tamworth to the Interlink Express Stadium in the 4th Round of the GLS Conference Cup.  The Lambs have already beaten us twice in the league this season despite being confined to the bottom half of the table, and so there is a score to be settled!  A win will take us into the Northern Semi Final of the competition and just three more victories away from lifting the trophy!  The match will be played to a finish, with extra time and penalties if required, however if the scores are level at 90 minutes we can only hope that the weather will be a little warmer than it was for our match in the last round against York City!

We travel to Exeter  City on Saturday afternoon, returning to league action with a massive game against one of our main rivals for a play off place this season.  Exeter had a great run in the FA Cup this year, ending with defeat in a replay against Manchester United. Hopefully this will have taken its toll on their squad and it will give us the edge as we look to at least take a share of the points ahead of two big matches coming up next week against Barnet and Halifax!

A look at the Nationwide Conference table sees us sat in sixth place, still well in touch with all contenders for a play off place, and with fourteen games left to play we are now entering a very important period in the season.  Come along and join us as we push to realise the dream of Accrington Stanley back in the Football League!
