Biggest game in our history

This weekend Accrington Stanley face what is once again one of the biggest matches since reforming in 1968.

With nearly all the midweek results going against us this week, the trip to Woking on Saturday is another must win match if we are to keep up with the chase for a play off place.  There is no doubt that there is now tremendous pressure on the players to perform, and it is up to John Coleman and the management team to ensure that this doesn't cause problems, and is used to get the very best out of the players on the afternoon.  Not one member of thesquad will shy away from the challenge, it is clear what the team needs to do to keep the play off hopes alive and as a club we have every confidence in their ability to do so.

We have a visit from the Football League this week to make sure that our ground still satisfies their entry requirements.  Our ground was inspected earlier in the season in preparation for our entry into the LDV Vans Trophy, as it stands the Interlink Express Stadium is developed sufficiently to allow us into the Football League with a few summer additions such as a police control room and an extra first aid room for spectators.

Away from league action we had a great first leg of the Lancashire FA Marsden Challenge Trophy, winning 3-0 at Burscough on Wednesday evening.

What started out as a pleasant sunny evening turned into a torrent of heavy rain and hailstone in the first half, but we coped well with the adverse conditions and goals from Gary Roberts, Paul Cook and Ian Craney ensured that we will take a good advantage into the second leg, which will be played at the Interlink Express Stadium on Tuesday 26th April.

Our next home game is on Tuesday 19th April against Aldershot, this is our last home Conference match of the season so we are hoping for a bumper crowd to hopefully cheer us on our way to the play offs!
