Forest draw was so frustrating

The league draw at home to Forest Green Rovers was a terrible result for us last Saturday, and most frustrating of all was knowing that we are a much better side than the way we played and that really we threw away two valuable points.  It is very true that there are no easy games in the Conference, however we should really be able to see off a side that is second from bottom in the table.

Fortunately we bounced straight back with a win over Northwich Victoria on Tuesday evening, staking our claim to a place in the Northern Final of the GLS Conference Cup.  Other teams in the competition have got a little behind on their games and so we have yet to find out who we will face, however we do know that we will be away to either Morecambe, Worksop  Town or Stalybridge Celtic.  The National Final will be played on Wednesday 27th April, at one of the finalists grounds, to be decided with the toss of a coin.

Tuesday’s win also extended our unbeaten run to ten straight matches, consisting of eight wins and two draws, an impressive record in anyone’s book.  It is back to league action on Saturday afternoon and a trip up to fellow playoff place chasers Carlisle United.  The Cumbrians have slipped of late with some poor results, however they will be very determined to get back into the Football League at the first time of asking and so it is vital that we are on form this weekend.  John Coleman has a full squad to choose from with Steve Flitcroft and Ged Brannan returning from suspension, and we will have a couple of new signings available for the clash, with recent additions David Brown and Gary Roberts both very keen to make a good impression.
