ACCRINGTON STANLEY 5

STALYBRIDGE CELTIC 0

STANLEY finished off their pre-season preparations with a flurry of  goals against the Conference North side.

And the performance gave Reds boss John Coleman plenty of food for thought going into the Conference opener on Saturday against Canvey Island. Triallist Danny Varney, a young defender, was snapped up after the game with ex-Blackpool defender Leam Richardson and defender Michael
Welch offered contracts. And striker Andy Mangan, a former Seasider, impressed - scoring one of the goals and making the opener.

The tricky hitman chased to the by-line and set up Anthony Barry on 18 minutes who scored his first goal in a Stanley shirt. The second didn't come until after the interval when Paul Mullin headed home a Gary Roberts corner on 53 minutes.

One minute later and Mannion fired home from eight yards before Mullin finished deftly to chip over the keeper for number four. And Paul Cook completed the game in style, scoring off with a  dipping 25 yard strike three minutes from time.
