WORKSOP 1 ACCRINGTON 1
Worskop lost 4-2 on penalties

ACCRINGTON Stanley crashed out of the FA Trophy as Conference North side Worksop progressed to the last eight of the prestigious competition on penalties.

The two sides had drawn 1-1 on Saturday and Conference leaders Stanley failed to raise their game in Nottingham on Tuesday and were punished.

Chances, in a swirling wind and rain, were limited but the game burst to life when former Stanley trialist Blake Norton fired home for Worksop on 76 minutes.

However, two minutes later, Ian Craney poked the ball home for the Reds to give them a life-line.

Extra-time couldn't separate the sides and when Craney saw his spot kick saved - Stanley's first -  it was advantage Worksop.

Danny Ventre also had his penalty saved and, although Rob Elliot denied Norton, Worksop had done enough to seal a quarter-final clash with Boreham Wood.

John Coleman's dreams of a league and FA Trophy double vanished in the rain - and now it is full steam ahead in their league title hopes.
