Accrington Stanley once more turned on the style on Sky television to go 16 points clear at the top of the Conference table.

John Coleman's side have been on television eight times now with only one loss in non league's top flight.

And it was a sweet victory over local rivals and second placed Morecambe in front of the biggest crowd of the season of 3041.

It wasn't the best of games with Stanley taking the lead on 24 minutes through Andy Todd — with a 20 yard strike which curled low into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

And three minutes later top scorer Paul Mullin capitalised on a defensive mix-up between keeper Steve Drench and defender Darran Kempson and pounced to fire home from an acute angle.

Stanley could have had more but Morecambe pressed in the second half with Rob Elliot pulling off a one-handed save from a Michael Twiss effort.

"It is still not over," said Coleman. "I think teams like Grays and Hereford will still have a big say in what happens for the title and we have got to take it just one game at a time."

There are still 13 league games left but just five wins could see the Reds clinch the title and make an emotional return to the Football League, 44 years after they were forced to resign.
