STANLEY suffered their second defeat to a Coca Cola Championship side in a pre-season friendly with Preston's Brian O'Neil scoring the winner. The Scottish international headed home in the 22nd minute following a Callum Davidson cross.

It could have been more but for some good saves from Danny Alcock while Ian Craney came closest for Stanley with a low drive which tested Carlo Nash. Left winger Gary Roberts was again impressive for the Reds while John Coleman fielded several triallists who are out to win contracts. Stanley face neighbours Burnley tonight (Wednesday) at the Interlink.
