Treble joy for Reds

ACCRINGTON Stanley reached the second round of the FA Trophy for the first time as a Conference club as they completed the treble over 
Altrincham.

The Reds were always the pre-match favourites but Alty had given Stanley two tough league games during the season which John Coleman's side had won 1-0.

And they got a dream start when Rommy Boco fired home a Steve Jagielka cross in the third minute. It was all Stanley early on and was no surprise when Ian Craney then side footed home from a tight angle on 34 minutes against his former club.

Altrincham had a great chance to finally score past Stanley this season a minute later when Leam Richardson was judged to have tripped Colin Little in the area. Little took the spot kick but hit it straight down the middle and Rob Elliot got a foot to it to keep it out.

It means the last goal Stanley conceded was against Grays in November and they have now gone six successive games without conceding a goal.

"There was some great performances out there and I couldn't pick out an individual," said Coleman. "They had a spell of 10 or 15 minutes when they went three up front but we made it difficult for them and I was pleased that we held out.

"It was a good save from Rob for the penalty and you could see how much it meant to him to keep a clean sheet by his reaction."
