Andrew Champness

Champness charged with championing broadband

The agency responsible for promoting the business benefits of  broadband across  Hyndburn and the rest of Lancashire has added a new member to its ‘switched on’ team.

Andrew Champness has joined the Lancashire Digital Development Agency (LDDA) as a marketing officer, after beginning his career at Lancaster City Council, where he worked in a variety of departments.

Most recently, Andrew, 31, was venue duty manager at The Platform, Morecambe, managing events including conferences and music concerts for the community arts venue.

His new role will be to promote broadband technology and its benefits to businesses throughout Lancashire.

He said: “Access to broadband connectivity is an essential element in productivity and competitiveness for business and the LDDA’s work is vital in communicating the benefits of broadband technology in a meaningful and relevant way.

“I am looking forward to playing a part in a range of activities to raise awareness and increase both take-up and use of broadband technology across Lancashire.”

Away from work, Andrew, from Lancaster, is a keen Manchester United and Morecambe FC supporter.

The LDDA is funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), working in
partnership with Business Link Lancashire and the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
